It is a helpful question because the answer has everything to do with how the ingredients are delivered and where they are intended to work. Synapsin® is commonly compounded as a nasal spray to support provider-guided neurological and cognitive wellness plans.

Because Synapsin® is a compounded medication, it requires a prescription from a licensed healthcare provider and should only be used under professional supervision.

Why Is Synapsin® Given as a Nasal Spray?

Synapsin® dosing is individualized and should always follow the prescribing provider’s instructions.

A common starting approach may include one to two sprays into each nostril once daily. Depending on the patient’s response and tolerance, the provider may gradually adjust the dose. Some protocols may increase up to two sprays into each nostril twice daily, with a maximum of two sprays into each nostril three times daily.

Patients should not change their dose without guidance from their healthcare provider.

Response time varies by individual. Some patients may notice changes sooner, while others may require several weeks before evaluating whether Synapsin® is supporting their goals.

Why Is Synapsin® Red?

Some Synapsin® formulations may appear red because they include methylcobalamin, a form of vitamin B12. This color is expected and does not mean the spray is causing a nosebleed.

If actual bleeding, significant irritation, or unusual symptoms occur, patients should contact their healthcare provider.

Using Synapsin® Safely

Synapsin® should be used exactly as prescribed. Patients should tell their provider about all medications, supplements, diagnoses, and health concerns before beginning any new compounded medication.
